Halo 2 Hunter Hints

Another pretty easy way to kill hunters:
All you Halo freaks out there will remember in Halo:PC & CE you could simply do a little stroll to the left then shoot the hunter it is orange spot to kill it. Well that tactic hasn't completely vanished. If you get your timing PERFECT then you can simply stroll to the side and fill the orange zone with lead (preferably, lead is better than plasma) sustain fire for a short while. After doing this 1-3 times the hunter will be dead. This is especially effective with a sniper rifle. DW Smgs or Magnums.
Alternate way to killing hunters:
Simply find a fixed turret, the human ones are best and give them a body full of it they will die INCREDIBLY fast. A good place to do this is near the beginning of "Outskirts".
When they are approaching (but not charging at you) you can simply fire a shot into their orange stomach and you will kill them with a shot each in easy.

Sony Playstation

Phil Harrison, president of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios, has had a few things to say about the future of Playstation. With the PS3 launch scheduled for 2006, and Playstation 2 happily hitting the mass-market, Sony’s facing a divided year but Phil is confident about their prospects.
With more games, especially mass-market titles like SingStar and EyeToy, headed for the PS2, Sony are aiming for a wider demographic as the console matures further. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on whether the PS3 will face a simultaneous worldwide launch. A couple of interesting hand-picked statistics in the interview include the fact that the PSP beat the DS to 10 million units, and that the number of PS2 online users apparently outnumbers other consoles—“On a worldwide basis it is the most popular online console by virtue of the size of the installed base.”

Xbox 360s are piling up in Japan

According to Enterbrain, the Xbox 360s are piling up in Japan. Less than 40% of the 159,000 Xbox 360s available were actually sold on the first two days of release; even the original Xbox managed to do better, with 123,000 units sold in its first three days. Despite the difference a day makes, it's clear the 360 isn't living up to Microsoft's hopes in the East at the moment.
The editor-in-chief of magazine "Famitsu Xbox 360" blamed the delay in Dead or Alive 4 for the slow start, so we may see numbers pick up once DoA hits the shelves.

Dreamcast Sega Direct

Sega’s not flapping their yapper so far as we can tell, but German gaming site Gamefront.de is claiming they’re going to be re-releasing the frickin’ Dreamcast bundled with Radilgy and some limited edition telephone card or something. But our wish come true from the Ghost of Hackable Consoles Past will probably be Japan-only though, distributed through Sega Direct for ¥10,000 (about $83 US) — still, could this be the triumphant return of Sega hardware, even if only just nostalgia-gear? Apparently we’ll find out February 16th (or sooner).

Sony PS3 launch window

According to Reuters, the bigwigs at Sony have recently reaffirmed the PS3’s predicted launch window of spring 2006, despite numerous rumors and utterances to the contrary. Since Sony have yet to follow in Microsoft’s footsteps and announce their intentions to engage in a simultaneous worldwide launch, we can assume that they’ll be shooting for the usual staggered release schedule of Japan first, everywhere else… meh, whenever.
Technically speaking, should Sony stay true to their word, Japan could be seeing the PS3 as early as March 21, though no later than the same time come June. Given that the PS2 took a little under eight months to make the transition across the Pacific, we can roughly estimate a North American PS3 launch window of early November 2006 to late January 2007.

Microsoft Xbox 360 console

November 23, 2005 – Ottawa, ON, Canada - Chipworks Inc., (Chipworks) the industry leader in reverse engineering and analysis of semiconductor chips and systems, today announced that they have analysed the key chips of the new Microsoft Xbox 360 console and that detailed technical reports are ready for purchase immediately.
“Microsoft has developed creative relationships with some of the leading-edge chip suppliers in order to meet the performance needs of the Xbox,” said Gary Tomkins, manager of Technical Intelligence at Chipworks. “We wanted to see how advanced the process technology is that is being used, considering the pressure to keep the component costs down.”
The extensive use of state-of-the-art technology in the Xbox illustrates the trend that the consumer market is driving technology these days,” continues Tomkins.
senior technology analyst, also commented: “Earlier press announcements revealed that the Xbox’s custom microprocessor was being fabbed by IBM, and the graphics processor was designed by ATI, both using 90-nm processes. Later, NEC announced that they were supplying the embedded DRAM to work with the ATI chip, and Infineon has also declared they will have parts in the console. ATI has used TSMC as a high performance foundry at the 130- and 110-nm process nodes

Xbox 360 dashboard

The Xbox 360 dashboard is actually a pretty darn slick little setup. There are different blades for Xbox Live, system setup, music-videos-photos, and more. It is very easy to navigate and gives you a lot of information and a ton of options to make your Xbox 360 experience however you want it. You can change the look of the dashboard by selecting a different theme and I am happy to report that the system comes with several themes already loaded that feature a number of different games and publishers. I’m quite fond of the Halo theme myself. A nice touch is that you can play music while you browse the dashboard. Not a big deal, but it is something that I appreciate. Even better is that the Xbox 360 recognizes CD-R’s so you can rip all of your copied music onto your Xbox 360. My custom soundtracks are going to be much improved from my original Xbox selection.
Another interesting feature is that you can adjust settings on the dashboard that will affect the games you play. You can set what difficulty level you like to play at or things like whether you want an automatic or a manual transmission in a racing game. These settings will apply to all games to order to give you a more consistent and streamlined experience as you move from game to game. Settings can be adjusted in the games individually, of course, but these global settings are definitely going to come in handy.

Xbox 360 review

The Xbox 360 is scheduled to be available for purchase in North America on November 22 (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving). International launches will follow soon after: December 2 in Europe and December 10 in Japan. Look for two versions of the 360 to hit store shelves: a $299 edition (dubbed the Core System) that comes with one wired controller, a detachable faceplate, and standard A/V cables; and a souped-up $399 version that ships with a 20GB hard drive, a wireless controller, a wireless headset, a limited-edition wireless Media Center remote (for the initial batch, at least), and HD-capable component A/V cables. Both SKUs will include a basic Xbox Live Silver membership.
Hardware: In addition to an IBM PowerPC-based CPU running at 3.2GHz and 0.5GB of RAM, the 360 sports a customized ATI graphics processor capable of advanced antialiasing and shader effects. What that technical jargon means, in practice, is that the new Xbox will have the processing power to deliver true 720p and 1080i wide-screen HDTV images for all of its games (by contrast, most games for the original Xbox maxed out at a DVD-level 480p). Multichannel surround sound is also standard, and the 360 natively supports up to four wireless controllers to cut down on cable clutter.
DVD vs. Blu-ray: The Xbox 360's optical drive is a standard DVD model. While using tried-and-true DVD technology may keep costs down, it also limits the games to just 8.5GB of space--that's pretty tight for high-def cut-scenes. By contrast, the PlayStation 3 will use a next-generation Blu-ray drive, which means more space for games (at least 25GB per disc) and compatibility with one of the competing high-def movie formats vying to replace DVD. Rumors persist that the 360 will get an HD-DVD drive at some point, but with Microsoft on an aggressive four-year console upgrade schedule, we're likely to see the third iteration of the Xbox (November 2009?) before we see a "360.1" with HD-DVD.

Halo 2 Pelican

Assualt on the Control Room, at the beginning, youll b able to see a door and grunts running in it. BEFORE YOU GET OUT, keep hitting "X" b/c u'll c it says "Press X to enter side-seat of Pelican" at the top. After it says that and you've hit it once, you can only hit it another 2 times max b/c u'll end up getting out. It doesnt really go too well b/c u'll eventually fall out after u start seeing green fog. it lasts for 45 sec though. Also possible in Silent Cartographer and 343 Guilty Spark. In Cart, play co-op, have one man stay in the pelican and the other clear the beach. Get the Warthog and have both people leave the pelican. When they start to take off, quickly drive up and jump in. Keep walking forward and you can stay in for long enough that the open water below will break your fall and you can get WAY further from the island than the Warthog will ever take you!

Halo2 Review

Most of the weapons from the first game return, although strangely the MA5B Assault Rifle (the default weapon in the first game) is not available. There is a single melee weapon known as the Covenant Sword, but the controls for it are the same as that for all the shooter weapons, making it difficult to direct. Also, for a new twist, you can hold two of the smaller guns at the same time and shoot double-fisted.
As for vehicles, the old favorites are back and joined by a few new, mostly Covenant wheeled monsters. Some improvements have been made to the AI so that the nonplayer characters can drive without running into too many obstacles while you man the turret. This improved AI also has enemies ducking for cover, and the banter from both the Marines and the bad guys has undergone massive improvements so that it no longer sounds quite so repetitive.

Warthog Hint Halo 2

Play a round of soccer in Halo 2! In the Metropolis level, there will come a point where you must destroy two Wraiths that are laying siege to some marines in a building (just before the sequence where you must board the Scarab). Just as you enter this part of the game you will see a few marines in a Warthog battling against a couple of Ghosts. Surrounding you will be a few building and one in particular that looks as if it has been filled up with rubble. If you can manage to get inside this building, on the lowest floor hidden in the corner is a giant Soccer ball (you will need the Banshee to get there). You can then push the soccer ball out on to the road below. If you move the witches hats to make goal posts one player, in co-op mode, can commandeer a warthog, and the other can get in another and you can have a giant game of soccer.

Halo2 dual wield weapons

In an open battlefield dual wield for maximum fire power as throwing Fragmentation Grenades will be a waste of time. If you are in an enclosed environment it is more effective to hold only one weapon which will allow you to use your free arm to detonate Fragmentation Grenades to deadly effect. The following are weapons that you will be able to dual wield:Human Dual Weilding weaponsMagnum (Pistol) -Sidearm which is deadly at close range particularly on head shotsSMG (Sub Machine Gun) -Inaccurate but deadly, best used in small controlled bursts.Battle Rifle -Versatile weapon that can be used as a semi-automatic for close range or as a sniper rifle for long range.

Halo 2

Funny that the real halo effect, the one clearly identifiable, comes not from Apple but from Microsoft. In fiscal 2005 second quarter earnings details released yesterday, Microsoft revealed that sales of game "Halo 2" brought in $300 million, enough to buoy the long money-losing Home and Entertainment division to profitability. The unexpected sales surge shows the difference one hot game can make for any console.

OK, so it's the "Halo 2" effect.

Xbox is on a roll, with sales projections about six months ahead of Microsoft predictions and Xbox Live subscribers soaring, too. I would encourage Sony and Nintendo not to underestimate the momentum Microsoft is generating.

Halo2 Hints

When you come to a tank, get in front of it and look at the small box. On the box are numbers: 030569. The birthday of Marcus Lehto, (the art director for Halo), is March 5th, 1969.
On the bottom of Master Chief's foot is the initals MRL. These are the intials of Marcus R. Lehto, the art director for Halo. The best way to find this is to kill someone in a muliplayer match and take a sniper rifle and zoom in on the body's foot.
If you take a sniper rifle and zoom in on the butt of a pistol, you'll find a weird marking. This is actually a Chinese/Japanese symbol for power.
If you take a sniper rifle and zoom in on the top of a pistol, where the small gray part is, you can find a Chinese symbol for 7. One-One-Seven is Master Cheif's number.
Here's a very hidden Marathon logo. On Keyes, when you find Captain Keyes as a blob, you can find his pipe hanging off the edge of the platform the blob is on. If you take a sniper rifle and zoom in on the pipe, you can find a faded Maracthon logo.

Halo2 Needler

The needler is nothing like the halo 2 eight minute video it was shown in.I suppose it was just too powerful at that VERY fast speed. And although youcan DW this gun and the speed of the needles has slightly been increased, Itis still not nearly as good as any of the other weapons laying around. There is only 2 valid approaches to using this weapon. 1.) Against totalnewbies who, will just stand, fire at you and not move. 2.) Shooting someonein the back. That is really the only way these weapons are useful. Even in aDual wielding situation, if someone moves out of the way of the needle just asit is about to hit him, generally it won't attach to him and do no damage. And because this gun relies HEAVILY on the fact it does more damage - the moreneedles are in before exploding, make this gun silly to use on pros. Maxdistance on needles is also around 100 Ft.On shielded opponents, if someone moves left to right, the needles WILLdeflect off of them. The needles will ALWAYS stick if the person has noshields left. But if they have no shields left, you can kill them quickerwith ANY other weapon, even the plasma pistol. So just keep that in mind. If someone is coming at you with needles and youstill have full shields, move. Most of the needles won't do anything.

Plasma Granade

This weapon is similar to our own hand grenade in that it is a thrown anti-infantry and anti-vehicle weapon. It has some kind of internal mechanism that allows it to distinguish between targets and background. For example, it will stick to a soldier or vehicle, but not a tree or wall. It has a three-second fuse that is activated after it sticks to a target or otherwise comes to a rest try and throw it close because if the see it coming they will jump out of the way.

Halo2 Energy Sword

The Energy Sword is a beast! Let me put it another way: the Energy Sword pwns. If you know anything about the sword-carrying Elites in the HALO campaign, you know that one swipe with the blade can kill. In HALO2, there is just one sword spawn location per map, so finding a sword is rare. I have not found an instance where there are two Energy Swords in a standard slayer gametype. HALO2 seems as if it is smart enough to know how many Swords (just one) are on the map. If a dropped Sword goes untouched it disappears (like dead bodies do) and will eventually respawn. If the Energy Sword gets blown off or under a map, it will respawn at its spawning location.

Halo 2 Rockey launcher

Sword/Rocket Launch
Get a sword and a rocket launcher on any level. (it can be in campaign or multiplayer). Aim at an enemy with the rocket launcher and hit the (Y) button and the right trigger simultaneously. If done right you will fly at the enemy you were aiming at.

Halo 2 Ghost Hint

Destroy the Ghost
Facing the Ghost from behind, to the left, behind the left wing is an alien gas tank shaped like a circle. It's only on the left side. Shoot it 3 times with pistol or 1 time with the shotgun and say good bye to it.

Prophet Of Regret Halo 2 Hint

When you get to the end of the level "Regret" you will have to fight Prophet Regret. Instead of battling all of the grunts and honor guards run straight at the prophet who is on a hovering throne. Dodge the honor guards with energy swords. Board his throne by pressing x. Use melle attacks and he will be killed within a few hits. If you are playing on hard or legendary you will have to do this multiple times.

Halo 2 Pistol

Magnum (Pistol):Sidearm which is deadly at close range particularly on head shots, works great as a club by sneaking up from behind and clubbing over the head.

Halo Plasma Pistol

Ammunition: Plasma Bolts
Clip Size: 100 battery units
Core power output: 100-150 kV : 2-3 dA
Overcharge power output: 1.2 mV : 2-3 dA
This weapon is a semi-automatic directed energy weapon. The weapon has a secondary fire mode which consists of an overcharged bolt. After the over-charged bolt is launched the weapon temporarily stops functioning as it dumps waste heat. Use of the over-charge capability rapidly depletes the weapon's power core. We currently do not understand how to replace or recharge a power core. This weapon uses a smaller version of the plasma technology used in the Covenant's main capital ships. By using a small magnetic field generator, the overcharged plasma bolt tracks and moves toward the nearest moving target in its fire arc. Note: This weapon will deplete its energy source as you use it. It is wise to replace it as often as possible. It work great to lower the shield of the elit and then switch weapons for the kill.

The Flood Halo2

The flood They generally behave pretty much the same as in Halo 1, though their arsenal has been expanded accordingly and their melee attack is now often a one-hit kill. The exploding carrier forms seem to do less damage than in halo 1, while the infection forms seem to do considerably more. The combat forms have acquired a few more tricks, like driving vehicles and using shields, but that's a problem for a later day. Although it won't affect you on this level, eventually you'll find that the shotgun does not seem quite as effective as it used to be; in its place, though, the energy sword has stepped up as the ultimate flood-killing device. You can run from them also you do not need to always battle the flood.

Below this structure are 3 cylinders hanging down, with cylinders of light shooting out of the bottom that look like they are what keeps the station floating. If my explanation is too vague, they are the absolute lowest parts of the station. Now go to the middle engine and land on the top part of it. This and the other engines connect to the large structure mentioned earlier. The tops of the engines come up to meet the structure at an angle, where this angle is under the connecting structure and coming up to meet it, there is a place to walk (like being under a bridge). Sniper Rifle Halo

The Sniper Rifle returns from Halo: Combat Evolved. It cannot be dual wielded, and the latest Halo 2 reports indicate that several changes have been made - more specifically, the trail left by the rifle is much more diminished, and there is significant recoil in between shots; this makes being able to snipe opponents in the head a much more valuable tactic and asset to a team. You can pick off Hunters by hiding and wait for them to turm around and aim at the orange spot on there back they will go down with 1 shot..

Halo Cheat

Get a Ghost Through the Broken Blast Door
During the Two Betrayals level, the Master Chief comes upon a broken blast door and is "forced" to abandon his Ghost and face the Flood on foot. To get the Ghost through the door, line it up backwards with the hole in the door; allow the tail to stick out slightly through the hole. Leave it there. Now go back and get the Warthog, and use the Warthog to ram the Ghost through the crack. Hit it at a 45 degree angle to wedge it through.

Falling in Halo cheat

Falling without losing life
When falling from high distances your shield or is depleted when you hit the ground. If you hold the crouch button shortly before you hit the ground, you will not be affected in any way. This is very helpful when playing in multiplayer on levels like Hang 'em High or Prisoner. It has to be timed right though.

Halo Hint Hunters

Defeat Hunter Enemies
Equip the pistol and go behind a Hunter enemy. You'll see an orange spot on their back--hit the orange spot once and the Hunter will die.

Halo 2 Cheat Control Room

Assault on the Control Room Shortcut Bug
When on "Assault on the Control Room", there is a glitch to get through final door easily. Comandeer a Ghost or Banshee and fly slowly beside the door. Jump out of the vehicle in the direction of the door. If done correctly, you should be able to get pushed through the door by the dismount animation.

Elite Hint

One Hit Elite Death
Have you ever wondered if it is possible to kill an Elite easily? When you come to an Elite pacing around the room, time how fast he paces by hiding behind a shield or a glass window, stay at a safe distance, or just hide behind a corner. Once you are sure you know when he will turn around, run up behind him and use the melee attack to bash the Elite on the back, instantly klling him (note that if you did not do it correctly, it will turn around and attack you). This comes in handy alot on "Attack on the Control Room" and on Legendary Difficulty.

Halo2 Glitch

Refill Ammo Glitch
When using human weapons, you can reload them and not waste your ammo supply by starting the reload sequence and then immediately swapping it for another weapon that's on the floor. Wait for the reloading sound to finish and then pick up your weapon, and you will see that it has reloaded without using your reserved ammo.

Alien Drop Ships Hint

Clear Alien Drop Parties
When facing a drop ship, aim at the hatch that the enemies will come out of while the ship is descending. Your crosshair will turn red when you target an enemy (inside the dropship). This means you can shoot the enemies in the ship while it is still trying to land. You can get rid of a lot of enemies before the dropship deposits its soldiers, making the fight easier later on!

Warthog Halo 2

The M12G1 LAAV--also unofficially known as "Warthog"--is equipped with the powerful Gauss Cannon, which uses magnetic coil induction to fire a solid projectile at very high speeds and impressive accuracy. Maneuverable and excellent in any terrain, the Warthog relies on superb traction and its updated braking system.

Plasma Pistol vs M6C

They are both pretty good. But they both have different uses. About the only time a plasma pistol is good is overcharging it to take down a shield. The M6C however is a good gun to use to get a kill after the shield is down. Might I suggest dual wielding with both the Plasma Pistol and the M6C for a quick kill.
The plasma pistol is what is needed to take down shields then switch to your battle rifle to take them out.

Halo Battle Rifle

The Battle rifle. Designed to be a mixture of the assualt rifle and pistol.
This rifle works great from a hidden position to pick off Grunts.

Halo Grunts

Approximately 5' tall and relatively weak, Grunts tend to travel in packs and stick close to more powerful allies. Individually they are easy to defeat, but in groups they can overwhelm careless Marines. Their armor seems to house some sort of life-support mechanism. They are known to use a variety of weapons including the plasma pistol, plasma rifle and plasma grenades.

Halo 2 jackals & Hunters

·Jackals: Aim for the small notch on the sides of their shields to
knock them off-balance, then follow up with a few body shots until
they go down. (The pistol works perfectly for this.) Otherwise use
the same strategy we talked about for the Elite’s shields.

·Hunters: These guys seem tough, but one well-placed pistol shot in
the back will take them down. (Aim for the brownish patch of
skin). If you can’t get behind them, try this: “circle strafe”
close to them, moving around them but always looking at the
Hunter. It will circle also, in some strange sort of polka dance
or mating ritual. Spoil the mood by shooting the Hunter in the
head until it falls or charges at you.

Halo 2 Marines

:Your Marines may seem like more of an annoyance than a help (especially on Legendary difficulty), but trust us, they come in handy. Attack the same enemies they do instead of choosing your own targets for quicker kills and to increase the odds of your Marines surviving the fight. If you have a Marine gunner in your Warthog, park it in a defensive position close to the enemy and get out on foot. While your buddy blasts'em with the chaingun, sneak around the side and flank your enemies. Marine has a sniper rifle and you need ammo? Pop yem in the head and take his.

Doom vs Halo

Something has gone wrong at a remote scientific research station on Mars. All research has ceased. Communication has failed. And the messages that do get through are less than comforting. It's a level 5 quarantine, and the only souls allowed in or out are the Rapid Response Tactical Squad - hardened Marines armed to the teeth with enough firepower to neutralize any enemy...or so they think. The research being done at Olduvai station has unwittingly opened a door, and all hell has broken loose. A legion of nightmarish creatures of unknown origin lurks behind every wall and stalks the countless rooms and tunnels of the facility, killing what few people remain. Sealing off the portal to Earth, Sarge, Reaper and their team must use every weapon at their disposal - and some they find along the way - to carry out their orders: nothing gets out alive.
I wonder when they will make a HALO flick.

Halo like Body Armour

The picture shows a concept uniform that boasts some impressive technology. The helmet is outfitted with 360 degree video feed. This is displayed onto the visor. All the services are voice activated. Real-time strategic maps can also be fed from headquarters. This would give soldiers real-time views of friendlies, enemies, terrain, buildings, etc. The wearer can also amplify certain atmospheric sounds while lowering others. Complete translation services are also housed in the audiological center. The body suit is as impressive as the helmet/visor. It houses thermal sensors that control and regulate body temperature. The soldier carries a respirator on his back that provides continuous fresh air, removing the need for a protective mask. If the helmet is off, or the visor is up, and the soldier encounters a harmful airborne agent, the body suit will detect it, release tiny capsules to counter it and inject treatment into the soldier’s body. From the waist down, the suit incorporates a technology called XO muscle. This allows a soldier to carry 2 to 3 times their body weight while only feeling their own. Future versions of the uniform may also include a liquid called shear thickening liquid. The liquid displays elastic, moveable qualities when moved in slow, normal rhythmic motions. But when sudden, extreme force is applied to the liquid it becomes extremely tense and unmoveable. This would allow frontal and back armor that is much stronger than Kevlar alone.

Covenant Snipers

Covenant Snipers are what their name says. They carry a Beam Rifle. Watch out for them in dark or elevated areas.

Halo 2 Brutes

Brutes are a new unit to Halo 2. They are strong and agile. They have been known to have a hatred towards elite, use this to your advantage.

Cobalt Master Chief

The Cobalt Master Chief is a worthy foe in any Halo multiplayer level. One of the most popular variant colors and armed to the teeth, the Cobalt Master Chief is an awesome instrument of destruction.

Halo 2 tough to hack

A Microsoft representative would not specify which additional security measures, if any, have been added to Xbox Live around the "Halo 2" launch. "Microsoft listens carefully to the Xbox Live community and reserves the right to take steps necessary to preserve the integrity of the user experience," the representative said in a statement. "Our goal is to provide our users with secure, consistent and fair online game play. Users are not permitted to manipulate the system to the detriment of others."

Multiplayer Halo 2

. The online aspect has been opened up to everyone, not just the hardcore players who used Xbox Connect to play Halo online. Unfortunately this also means that you get a bunch of little kids that should not be playing a Mature rated game. Those children are a virus that effects all online console games, Halo 2 isn't alone.
Bungie has done a great job in keeping things updated online. They frequently release patches and have released 9 new maps which are available for purchase now and will be free in August. The servers are relatively steady. Occasionally a game will have a bad host and everything will be laggy, but for the most part it isn't a problem.
The learning curve is pretty gentle at first. The ranking system is moderately effective in pitting players against opponents of comparable skill. Unfortunately the ranking system also means you have people who only care about ranking up and will do anything to do so, so there are plenty of people who don't respect the game or their fellow players.

"Halo 2" was it's graphics

First thing I noticed about "Halo 2" was it's graphics. Now, nothing much has changed in terms of design or looks, but the biggest improvement over the original "Halo" is cleanliness. After rapid playing periods of "Halo 2" the first thing I noticed was how much more clean the game looked. The visuals are easier to see and the game just looks better overall over the original "Halo." On top of all this the graphics of the game itself really kicks ass. The explosions look realistic, the blood splattering all over the bombed out walls of the buildings. It's just a great looking game, one of the best looking ones I've seen in a long time.
The cinematics of the game are also definetely improved, with lots of gunfire and explosions to fill the plate of all you action fans out there. Unlike the last game where I hit the A-Button to skip over the cinematic, I don't in this game because I'd hate to miss out on the eye-popping visuals.

VOIP

Here’s a synopsis of the book that’s been called “the voice of reason in an industry full of hype”:

Internet-based telephony has become a viable solution, piquing the interest of companies small and large. The primary reason for migrating to VoIP is cost, as it equalizes the costs of long distance calls, local calls, and e-mails to fractions of a penny per use. But the real enterprise turn-on is how VoIP empowers businesses to mold and customize telecom and datacom solutions using a single, cohesive networking platform. These business drivers are so compelling that legacy telephony is going the way of the dinosaur, yielding to Voice over IP as the dominant enterprise communications paradigm.

Developed from real-world experience by a senior developer, O’Reilly’s Switching to VoIP provides solutions for the most common VoIP migration challenges. So if you’re a network professional who is migrating from a traditional telephony system to a modern, feature-rich network, this book is a must-have. You’ll discover the strengths and weaknesses of circuit-switched and packet-switched networks, how VoIP systems impact network infrastructure, as well as solutions for common challenges involved with IP voice migrations. Among the challenges discussed and projects presented:

EV-DO

If you’d like more information on EV-DO technology, which promises laptop users blazing speed over cellular networks, look no further than David Pogue’s excellent story in the New York Times. He does a really good job of explaining with EV-DO is and what it promises, as well as highlights some of the cellular cards you would need to plug into your laptop’s PC card slot. He does point out that the service is pricey—$80 a month, but Verizon Wireless is the only kid on the block to offer EV-DO, so they can get away with it. We’ll see what happens when debuts its own service later this year.

Samsung I730

The Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg weighs in with a review of the new Samsung i730 smartphone, which boasts the ability to surf the Web and e-mail functionality at broadband speeds. Basically, he likes the i730 because it delivers on its promises for making calls, accessing the Web, sending and receiving e-mails, playing music, and displaying pictures. However, he does point out drawbacks such as its size, low battery life, and having to use the stylus for most applications. Plus, the $599 price tag certainly can be a drawback by itself. On the whole, Mossberg gives it a fairly steady thumbs-up.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth-enabled headsets have gained significant popularity lately and the latest announcement from Broadcom might just add to their near-ubiquitous status. The company’s Blutonium BCM2037 chip features a Bluetooth baseband and radio which, according to the company, makes it the first headset-specific chip with EDR. The BCM2037 is designed to deliver end-to-end streaming digital stereo at near CD audio quality. In addition, support for the remote control profile (AVRCP) allows a stereo headset to control a variety of remote music sources.

Joystiq

Joystiq is breaking out with well over 100,000 page views a day… the guys over there are really kicking butt with their coverage of E3. Yesterday they did live coverage of the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 events and they are coving the Nintendo Revolution event live right now!

Live Ninetendo Revolution coverage: http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000760043637/

Show Down

May 17, at E3, is going to be the day for the inevitable showdown among the three gaming platforms : Nintendo Revolution, Xbox2/Xenon, and Playstation 3. Rumors are circulating that Sony will try to jump the gun with an “official” unveiling the the third playstation some time before E3. With a new CEO and troubled times in the music hardware group, Sony is probably going to bet big on the Playstation 3 launch. In response, more rumors fly that Microsoft will somehow release Halo 3 on whatever day Sony chooses to put the Playstation 3 up for sale. Will these actions really matter? Will the prices for the consoles fall so quickly that the avid gamer will just buy both platforms, even if only for 1, or 2 games. So the platform makers take a loss on each platform, while the game market is split more evenly, such that big hits will be released EA-style, on both platforms (they usually release on multiple platforms, don’t they?). What difference will the platform make - is the video game industry about to become all about the games?

Sony’s

Sony’s a great company in many ways, and they’re going to engineer something that’s got some decent capability. There’s no doubt about that. They have partners that have succeeded with them. I think we’re doing a really good job of nurturing some of their partners. Their box didn’t look bad, it looked ok—but I like our better. It’s a little bit hard for me to laud the competitor, but Sony’s a good company, and we have to assume that they’re going to execute some things quite well. I was shocked that they didn’t have more to say about online [gaming]; I just think of online as pretty fundamental at this stage. They didn’t have much to say about online, and what they said was more than what they’ve said before, which I think is an interesting thing. We’re both pretty keyed up on HD games—you can take the format and the disc aside—but we’re both pretty keyed up on HD games. Of course we love what we’re doing with personalization, but they were mostly about performance in their discussion last night.

That's the pre-Pack Windows Mobile 5.0

Today, Information Week reports what's aready been in the wind - the utility is set to be made available this week, with pre-builds into handsets coming this fall.

Devices armed with the Pack will be able to connect directly with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, rather than having to go through the additional middleware and servers that BlackBerry's email servers and others need to.

For several days after the upgrade was announced a couple of months ago, BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion investors reacted with a freaked quiver and a series of aftershocks. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same type of reaction this week. Yet because everyone knew this was coming, perhaps the reaction will be somewhat muted, and shorter in duration.

Halo 2 Glitch

A cool glitch is to be able to shoot through walls with the tank.
You aren't really shooting through the wall, your gun is through the wall. This glitch can be hard to do sometimes, and easy other times. Simply move the tank so that it is as close as possible to the wall you want to shoot through, for example a base in blood gultch. Nest move the end of the turret so that it is sticking through the wall, and in the room the enemy payer is in. Now simply shoot, hopefully it works and kills the enemy. This works best with thin walls.

More Halo 2 BULL

With the amount of huge profits Bungie/Microsoft made off Halo 2 we simply ask that all Halo 2 downloadable content shall be made free for people who pay for Microsoft Live right now.

None of this pay a 'premium' now...free later stuff bull. We already pay a premium for Live. Not to mention purchasing the game, Xbox, etc. Bungie/Microsoft bragged that Halo 2 made over $125 million the first day...more than Spider-Man 2 weekend opening and yet they are too cheap to give their fans the multiplayer levels for free that should have been included in the Halo 2 release in the first place.

My first true comment Thanks Halo2 BULL

Idiots that claim they can beat Halo 2 in 9 hours. Such crap.
We are stuck in Legendary at Cairo Station. Stuck at the point where you kill the two Grunts up on the walkway in Plasma Turrets. Probably stuck for 3 weeks now. No way to kill the Silver dual-weilding Elites. You can plant a plasma grenade on them and they keep coming at you.
Some walkthroughs claim the plasma pistol and various combinations will work.
How in the h#ll are you supposed to change weapons and get that close??? We've gotten down to about 3 at the end and we're either too far away... or whatever.
There is no way we'll get past this. There are no cheats which we wouldn't use anyway.
Has anyone else encountered this section and being stuck?

More Halo2 BULL

There are a lot of guys better then me. These are the guys that don't have a life. They never have a date, go dancing... or LIVE in any way.

They eat, sleep, and breathe Halo2... and they play it night-and-day... almost non-stop... 24-hours-a-day. And they are absolutely crazy. I've seen guys who've got a 27 or 28 ranking in "Team Slayer"... and these guys are legit. (I've also seen cheaters ranking at 50... but that's just a joke).

Anyway... these guys are so good they even get ME pissed-off when I'm playing. They definitely DO NOT put my skills to shame, that's for sure... but they're damn good -- there's no doubt about it.

But getting them to give you the time of day is impossible -- let along convincing them to teach you what they know.

Halo 2 Cheats

Cheat: Envy skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: Delta Halo
Word: Envy
Effect: Cloak instead of Flashlight, 5 second cloak with 10 second recharge

When you first come out of the big building and see the turret and 5/6 shield up on the wall there is a wall over to the left hand side with the two grunt turrets on it, the big block and door are at the far end of that wall... In the room that the block is blocking there are two dead grunts and two plasma swords. There's a door being blocked by a rock. Jump on the rock. Then jump on the ledge that's located above the blocked doorway. Turn left and jump up on another ledge. Grenade jump up to where you'll find Two Red Elites - That become cloaked, surrounding a skull. Pick it up, and it reads Envy.

Cheat: Assassins Skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: Regret
Word: Assassins
Effect: All enemies in game are permanently cloaked, AI cannot see them and so are no help at all.

Just after you get off the gondola, and go in the structure, there is a big block of stone, jump on that an you can get on a ledge that leads out to the Covenant turrets, facing back towards the structure, jump up another level around the right side of the structure, It is pretty straight lined from here. You should find the Skull on a ledge when you make it around. No visible change to the HUD, BUT all enemies become invisible.

Cheat: Anger Skull
Difficulty: Legendary Level: Gravemind Word: Anger Effect: ??????? Here is another Halo 2 skull: Fight all the way through the Covenant city until you reach the outdoors. As soon as you are outside, stick to the right-hand side and walk along the wall. You should see a Covenant wall thingy with a red rail on it. Jump up to it (crouch jump helps) and at the end there is the Anger skull in a small grav-lift.

Cheat: Iron Skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: High Charity
Word: Iron
Effect: Allies are immune to melee attacks

On the final grav-lift on "high Charity", look up. A skull will pass you by. Hold X as it passes you to receive the status.

Cheat: Famine Skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: Oracle
Word: famine
Effect: Weapons picked up only have half ammo.

After getting off the long elevator ride, you will come to a room where convent and flood are fighting below you, and you have to break the glass to get to where they are fighting. If you crouch/grenade jump up on the opposite side of where you came down, the skull should be up there.

Cheat: Black Eye Skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: Great Journey
Word: Black Eye
Effect: Shield won’t regenerate, when you melee someone you get energy power back, so if you melee someone you get a little bit of shield. So you can get a bit at a time all the way to overshield!

SGT Johnson will pilot the scarab and shoot at a building I am calling the Control Tower. If you take a banshee to the tower you will notice that, aside from where spires jut out of it, it has a round slope all the way around. If you take the banshee right up to the slope and as high as you can go, you can almost get over it. Here you must jump out of your banshee to land on the less steep part of the slope. If you turn your banshee to the side or all the way around, it may make it easier to land on the less steep part. Also, try to have your banshee land on a platform below, so you can use it to get back. Once you are on the slope, climb the rest of the way up it. If you are on the right of the door, then you have to jump onto the ledge next to the main part of the building, and then walk up a steep part in the direction of the door. Walk up that, then around and down on the other side. On this side (left of the door from scarab's perspective) you can walk onto the hills and grass. You will notice several angled spires, some of which connect to the building. You must climb the one that is directly opposite the door you would use to enter the tower. It's steep but you can walk up it. I suggest jumping while walking to speed up the process. At the top is a skull which gives you the "black eye" effect - you only recover shields by meleeing enemies. This is only found on legendary. Reverse the process to get back to your banshee (hopefully) or just jump off a cliff and the effect will stay with you.

Cheat: Infinite Skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: Quarantine Zone
Word: Sputnik
Effect: Explosions and melee have more of an effect, which may be the result of less gravity.

From the start of the level, look to your left for an Elite. To the left of the elite there is a tunnel. Head into the tunnel and go straight until you reach a cliff. Now turn left and follow the cliff till you reach a rock wall. To the right of the wall and the cliff is a narrow passage, skull is at the end of that passage.

Level: Cairo Station
Word: Thunderstorm
Effect: Makes Covenant "silver" and More Difficult

It’s past the two loading docks past the armory type place and in the next big room. It’s in the very highest location in the room. It’s under a trash can, I hit it out of the way and its just laying there.

Cheat: Mythic Skull
Difficulty: Legendary
Level: Sacred Icon
Effect: Unknown

After coming down from a piston, about halfway through the level, you’ll come to a room completely filled with Flood fog. Go into the room and you’ll see a stack of crates. Jump on top (while cloaked would probably work better, so the Flood don’t notice you), and across to the next highest level. If you look in the last hole in the wall, you’ll see the skull in with a dead Flood.

Unlockable: Blind Mode
At the beginning of the episode Outskirts, go through the first opening but do not head down the ramp. Instead, jump up onto the flourescent lamps over the doorway. From there, you can jump-crouch-jump onto the sloped roof to the left (jump and hold the crouch button at the peak of the jump to get onto the ledge).

Once on the rooftop, look for a narrow alleyway directly to your left. At the end of the alleyway are some grenades and a skull. Picking up the skull (hold the X button) will unlock blind mode, which removes all traces of your HUD from Halo 2 single player. To get them back, save and quit. Then choose Cairo station, save and quit and then choose the level Outskirts.

Halo 2 Master Chief

The defeat of the Covenant in the first Halo game was only a temporary victory, as the alien attackers have renewed their mission to wipe out all of humanity. Despite the human military force's and Master Chief's efforts, the Covenant have breeched the Earth's defenses and have left its inhabitants in a dismal situation. In the midst of desperation, players assume the role of Master Chief and lead the resistance against the Covenant to save the people of Earth from a gruesome demise. Halo 2 will feature an immense and epic single player mode, as the story picks up where it ended in the first game. In addition to the single player mode, Halo 2 will also feature a redesigned multiplayer mode. While the first game limited players to LAN connectivity, Halo 2 takes multiplayer missions online by way of Xbox Live.

Halo 2

Weapons
You've probably heard about the new ability to dual-wield smaller weapons. It’s exactly as cool as you've hoped it is, and it's perfect for fighting in close quarters, when grenades are too risky to use. You will also find new tools of the trade, like the Battle Rifle, and tweaks to classics like the Pistol and Needler.

Game Types
Old friends like Slayer are joined by new varieties, such as Assault, where you need to plant a bomb in the enemy base, and one-flag Capture the Flag (CTF). Factor in downloadable content, and Halo 2 is going to have some serious legs!

Maps
Quality maps are the backbone of any shooter, and the maps in Halo 2 are positively sublime. This time, there is a greater emphasis on asymmetrical team-play maps, like the amazing Zanzibar map that Bungie debuted at E3.

Online Play
Halo 2 has full Xbox Live support, including some of its own online features you won’t find in any other Xbox Live game. "Parties" of Friends make it easy to stick together from game to game, and the matchmaking features ensure you'll find the best possible opponents, according to skill and connection speed. As Bungie told us, matchmaking can be a "real nail-biter" because you'll always be playing against people who are close to your skill level.
